Spiritual Emphasis

One of the works of the Granny White Church of Christ is a worship service conducted at The Windlands, a retirement center, the third Sunday of each month.  Gran-Timers are central in this good work.  It is coordinated by Claude Palmer and many of the guest speakers and workers are members of the Gran-Timers.

Dr. Dennis Loyd and Dr. Ernest Clevenger have spoken on many occasions.  Bob Sanders helped organize it and is regularly involved in the work.  Youngsters Bill King and Jeff Hammonds are an integral part of the services.  Alice King does a wonderful job of preparing the communion set for each service.

Our song leading has been ably handled by John Starling (who is also one of our speakers), by Steve Sanders, by Dr. Randy Bouldin and Ronnie Farris.

Attendance at these services has averaged about 50.  The meetings are wonderful periods of worship and fellowship.  Windlands residents consider it a special treat when the young children of John and Tena Starling and Steve and Phyllis Sanders are in the audience.  These youngsters, Cassie Anne, Ivey, Oakley Starling and Hope Sanders also help in moving chairs and distributing song books.  Little Darcey Starling appears content just to stay in his mother's arms.

Windlands services are each third Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Lakeshore services are scheduled by the home.

Since we seem to have a little more time than others who claim to be younger, we also are able to participate in World Bible School Bible correspondence course work, Granny White's Warm Coat program and Hispanic work, the Monday Meals on Wheels, and other activities of the church and the group.  There is always room for one more!
