BIBLE STUDY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET
Prepared by Ernest Clevenger

From among the thousands of sites available on the Internet here are a few that may enhance your study and knowledge of God’s Word.  These sites are developed by people with various agendas, beliefs, doctrinal persuasions, religious backgrounds, and histories and should be used with discretion.  Please consider both the source and purpose of the material presented before accepting material as fact.  Let the Bible be the final authority.

http://www.google.com  Search by key word or phrase using AND or +, OR, NOT or -, and for numeric searches <, >, +, -.  One can ask a question, insert a scripture reference, enter the name of a Bible character, etc. and get many “hits” of locations where the information sought might be found.  The best searches are usually with one or two words.

http://www.bibleanswer.com/topical.htm       Church site with sermons and articles.

http://southernhills.searchgodsword.org/com/     Church site with study resources.

http://cofc.abbottpages.com/links.php?action=popular  Church links “warehouse”, includes Granny White link.

http://www.christiancourier.com/  A vast number of studies, articles and resources by Wayne Jackson and others kept very current and informative.

http://www.biblestudyguide.org/church/index.htm  A good textual resource but remember who sponsors the site.

http://www.bible-researcher.com/  Provides detail data on history of the Canon, Bible texts, languages and doctrinal backgrounds this site is for the serious student.

http://www.torreys.org/bible/  This source focuses on the early Christian writings and their social world.  These pages are intended as a resource for serious, scholarly studies and is especially good for background materials for teachers. The inclusion of a specific link does not necessarily mean an endorsement of its content, but suggests that it may be well worthy of some consideration.

http://www.bib-arch.org/  The principle site for Bible Archaeology.

http://www.ccel.org/fathers2/  Classic Christian books in electronic format. There is enough good reading material here to last a lifetime.  All of the books are believed to be in the public domain in the United States unless otherwise specified. Copy them freely for any purpose.

http://www.apologeticspress.org/index.html  Operated by Dr. Bert Thompson, it contains material showing the authenticity and inspiration of the Bible.

http://www.coc1.com/bible_study_tools.htm  Operated by Darryl Boyette, Miami, FL as a service to the world.  Site gets hundreds of thousands of hits and tens of thousands of Bible Correspondence course students who complete the courses including the one written by Dr. John Parker.

http://www.churchesofchrist.net/  Hundreds of electronic volumes for the church listed as “Christian Library” and used by thousands.

http://www.biblegateway.com/  The most powerful of search engines for checking multiple Bible versions, concordance use and as a source for copy/paste in preparing or studying for lessons.

http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/keyway07.htm  A part of Daily Bible Study site with 2,800+ articles (use carefully).  Over 40 million hits so far this year.  Has a good map section.  Also use Google to get specific maps of area desired.

http://www.biblestudy.org/maps/main.html       Other maps and material are available at this site.

http://wbsa.logos.com/  What the Bible Says About...  sponsored by Logos Software.  Limited free material.

http://www.bibletexts.com/glossary/  A “serve all” site administered by one person.  It has some good material, reference books, and articles and some very poor and erroneous stuff.  Use the site with care.

http://www.greeknewtestament.com/  A John Hurt (Elmwood, TN) site for serious students.  You might want to check out the related site at http://www.johnhurt.com/ where there is an on line Bible Study and Bible Dictionary.

http://www.olivetree.com/cgi-bin/EnglishBible.htm  Site of Olive Tree Software but has lots of free materials (hoping you will buy).  Strong’s Bible Concordance works with words and numbers.

http://www.eliyah.com/lexicon.html        This site has Strong’s Concordance with Greek and Hebrew Lexicon.

http://www.blueletterbible.org/         This site has about 20 commentaries available with complete search capabilities including Strong’s Concordance lookup.

http://www.doesgodexist.org/   This site is a part of a program of service under the direction of John Clayton titled Does God Exist? The purpose of the program is to provide thinking, seeking people with scientific evidence that God does exist and that the Bible is His Word. It is our conviction that all men can logically, intelligently, and rationally believe in God.
