2004 Warm Coats from Warm Hearts

     Each October and November, the Granny White Church of Christ in cooperation with these appreciated sponsors

we collect coats for free distribution to those in need.

     This is will be our seventh year to sponsor this event. Distribution day is the second Saturday in November. Last year we gave away over 8,000 coats to over 1,400 people. We also give away Bibles. 

     Our volunteers collect coats, pick up coats at Lowe's Home Improvement Stores and HH Gregg, sort and hang coats, and write notes to be placed in the coat pockets.

Below are some notes we received following a distribution.

“I’m letting you know the booklets in the coats were needed. What a mini yet vast source of the Word of God. I thank you for the quality of warm coats given to my grandchildren in the Edgehill area. With four boys and one girl this ministry helps much. My spiritual walk has just been renewed. Christians who go to the people fill voids more than you know.”

“Church helps ward off winter chill
When the doors finally opened at Granny White Church of Christ, Mitchell spent an hour carefully picking out coats for her family from among the 5,000 donated to the church. ‘I don’t have any Christmas present to give this time around, so this is a gift from God.’ She had also picked up five free Bibles. The whole load was precariously balanced on her walker.”


“Thank you Thank you Thank You from the students at Fall Hamilton School who received the wonderful coats. . . I wish you could have seen the toothless and beautiful smiles . . One little boy said, “I have never had a coat like this before.’” Your church has seen a need and has taken steps to help families in the Nashville area. . . “Last year when your church had their coat giveaway, my son and I came. We were able to pick out some nice winter clothes. We also picked up some Bibles. In my absent mindedness I left the Bibles on the bus. Would you mind sending me one with big print? (Bible sent) We have truly enjoyed the coats.
